On Ex-Hendrick CEO moves on

Posted on December 22 at 3:22 p.m.

In the coming year I would like to see:

1.) A cessation of spending on extravagances such as the recent proposals of "Frontiering" or "Diamondbacking" of Abilene citizens OR what ever they are going to try next..

2.) The local government set a realistic un-padded working budget, stay with in it and the return of annual overages the constituents.

3.) An end to government waste and frivolous spending by politicians and an accountability for their crimes upon citizens.

4.) Serious forward movement on a full four year state academic university and the new lake on the Brazos R.

5.) Taking care of the sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and curbscwhile fixing the streets. [During last year's repaving of So. 7th the sidewalks were removed...]

DISCLAIMER: I have no chance to benefit monitarily from any of the above wishes, except morally from seeing done what should be done.

This is whole deal is Abilene Jackassery!

Spend some money on city park improvements, make the new lake North of town on the Brazos R. happen. Bring a full 4 year State University to town. Give people a REASON to come instead of some slick whit and poor attempt at a catch phrase.

You guys ought to be charged with criminal negligence for wasting tax money on crap like this! I vote you all go to prison for mismanagement of public funds.

Color me a very pissed off person in Abilene, Texas! I'd propose a revolution against taxation without representation, but I think it's already been done!

PS: I have to get off of here before my blood pressure goes up again.

PPS: Sincere thanks to the ARN for giving this issue coverage.

Frontiering? Isn't that what some people do with an empty toilet paper tube and a gerbil?

Ella Beard is an inspiration to us all. Thanks for the article, photos and spirit!

I have never done anything like that, but I did run a marathon once. I meet up with a group of runners on Saturday mornings at the NW corner of Redbud park; walkers also.

Ella, we'd love to have you and anyone else that is interested is invited.

Possibly the same shtick used in other towns. Who knows; it doesn't matter anyway. I thought it was funny. It is fun to laugh at one's self. Laughter makes life a whole lot less serious.

Some people who post here are very harsh on others or rarely share an encouraging word. I've read the comments in other papers where the people are a lot more kind. Some put in great thought and make for great reading.
