Yes, we should continue exploring and drilling. We should also discontinue futures trading. That is nothing but "playing the lottery" with the nations economy. Let supply and demand run its natural course and we'll all be better off.

Well, here we go again. The lesser off Americans will vote for Obama and a Democratic congress. The wealthier will vote for McCain and the Republicans. Since George II has made soooo many people hurt financially, guess what? More votes for Obama. So, Obama will win, Congress will be democratic (the senate will probably have a super-majority) and we will all live with the consequences. If you are hurting financially, you will vote your pocketbook. Period. If you have plenty of money, other issues become a concern.
Maybe if everyone moved a little more toward the middle, we could vote for the best man, not the person that will "even the score".

Mr. Bush also stated in the debates that America must quit engaging in "nation building" and spend that money at home. Great says I...so I voted for him. Then he spends 10 billion in Iraq a month. I don't get it.

I personally am glad that McCain chose Palin. All the better for Obama.

Good letter! I agree wholeheartedly. Just think what America would be like now if we had spent 10 billion a month on her infrastructure, new jobs, alternate energy sources, rebuilding our military and job growth instead of wasting it in Iraq?

So much for "trickle down" economics...the trickle has slowed to a small drip. Funny that the oil, insurance and medical industries are doing just great. Hey McCain...it's the economy stupid!

All of our electricity comes from the same power grid as it always did...the same wires go to your home as always. All deregulation did was to put a slew of middlemen between the power source (AEP formally WTU) and us. WTU is now the provider of last resort, meaning that they must take you. So, the poorest folks with the worst credit ratings, who can least afford it, pay the highest prices & large deposits. I have a good rate, but our children who are just now getting established in the world are paying much more. See a problem there? When we only had WTU, they filed a rate hike request at every opportunity, and it was always granted. The problem with regulated electricity was the regulatory system was corrupt. They should have held the prices down, but didn't. I think what the writer is saying is that everyone should be allowed the same LOW rate for a commodity that is obviously a necessity.

Man...I'm still stuck on "The Key City" & "The Big Country". What was wrong with those? If I had a successful business, I wouldn't change the name every 5 years.
On Let's go back to being 'Friendly Frontier'
