I wish for us to get some bars and pubs downtown to really make downtown alive. Also, lets have some drinking until 2am !

Think you read that wrong satman... it is not the branding partership that still thinks it is a good thing... it is "proponents of the branding idea"...

And even that is bad reporting.. there are many people like myself that think the branding idea is a good one...but I think they picked a really bad logo and "word" and it needs to stay the heck off of our wayfinding signs.

lthomas999.. what street ? They have repaved many streets I drive on daily like South 7th and sayles blvd and they are very nice now. The streets department welcomes your input on this subject and they ask for the input of the public on that subject at least once per year. Unfortunately.. very few respond to some of those types of requests and then they complain later.

paz... you would be shocked at the price of a stoplight or a large overhead sign on I-20 I think. These signs are much needed.

bottom line is that this was well publicized when the decision was made (as are all hearings and meetings at city hall)

start paying attention. complaining after the fact is just stupid.

I'm not going to crucify B_Murray for the comments.. but I understand the general idea of the statement.

Yes, she is a victim, even if consensual. Yes, it IS wrong for a teacher under any circumstances to do that.. and it IS wrong for a 26 yr old to do that to someone under age. People that are older are able to sway the mind or groom the confidence of someone less experienced.

But the laws do need changing in some ways. This does not pertain to the Wylie incident, but... Why are these boys that are 19 being branded sex offenders for life, for having sex with a 17 yr old girl in some states ? Why do they never look to see how aggressive the girl was in some of these stories ? Why is it ok (in public opinion) for a girl who is 16 to have lots of sex with a 19 yr old guy that treats her like crap, but then the public raises all kinds of hell when the guy is 23, even if he treats her like a queen ? It's not like he is the one that "made her bad".

I'm just tired of blanket laws covering such things.

I bet the AYSA would not have had a problem paying real estate bills, commissions, etc... Oh wait.. .the community was GIVEN a 10 million dollar plus piece of land for free. And the voters said no. Nevermind.

1) Most Important-- My sympathies to the family too. BUT all of you readers and friends of family keep in mind..... this is a comment board on a public newspaper website. Not a condolence list on the funeral home website. If someone makes a comment that is "hurtful" "not PC" or somewhat off topic... then get over it. That is the internet. If your feelings are so hurt by that... then you better stay off the internet and especially message boards and forums. There will always be jerks and flamers and off topic posters.

2) Yes there does need to be a light at that intersection.
3) If you are a motorcycle rider and have not been in a serious accident, you will be. Wear a helment and proper clothing, and DONT SHOW OFF. If you want to race, go to a track.
4) It is possible the driver looked left, right, left and didnt see him until it was too late if he took off at a high rate of speed.
5) Agreed, we all need to put down the cell phones, burgers, makeup, and coffee. I'm guilty too.

Everyone please read the post by Gus here at the end.

1) She was telling people to get tested... not giving a commentary on sexual orientation or religion.
2) Why does religion have to be involved in this discussion at all ? People of all religions or no religion have the same actions both good and bad.
