Abilene bank robbers sentenced

Two Abilene men -- Fernando Landeros Jr. and Frank Lopez Leija -- were sentenced Friday to federal prison for robbing the State National Bank in January, U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas announced in a new release.

Brownwood ISD adopts budget, keeps same tax rate

The Brownwood Independent School District Board approved a budget of $29,177,189 and set the tax rate at $1.2707 for the 2008-2009 school year during a special called meeting that lasted 30 minutes Wednesday evening.

Dyess colonel receives Bronze Star

The ceremony was in keeping with military tradition, and few were words spoken as Col. James Milburn, 7th Maintenance Group commander, was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for the second time in his 28-year career in the Air Force at Dyess Air Base on Wednesday.
