MacKenzie Trail Festival results

The second annual MacKenzie Trail Festival was held Sept. 20 in Stamford. Eighteen food and trade show vendors were present.

The Duggan’s Parts Plus Annual Car Show had 58 entries from Stamford, Abilene, Hamlin, Avoca, Knox City, Anson, Sylvester, Merkel, Clyde, Baird, Buffalo Gap, Breckenridge, Vernon, Sweetwater and Hamlin. Each class awarded first and second place trophies.

• Pre-49 Street Rod: 1. Eddie Baugh of Clyde, 1934 Chevrolet 5-window coupe; 2. Wes Morris of Clyde, 1938 Chevy 2-door sedan.

• Pre-49 Antique: 1. Gladys Patterson of Breckenridge, 1926 Chevrolet 2-door coupe; 2. Richard Seals of Baird, 1941 Ford Coupe.

• Classic Auto 1950-1959: 1. Kyle Coker of Abilene, 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air; 2. Robert Spalding of Hamlin, 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hardtop.

• Classic Auto 1960-1979: 1. Bobby Don Wood of Sweetwater, 1972 Chevy Malibu; 2. Laura McLean of Vernon, 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible.

• Car 1980 to Present: 1. Kenneth Lancaster of Abilene, 2002 Chevrolet Camaro; 2. Cathy Lancaster of Abilene, 2007 Chevrolet Corvette.

• Ford Muscle Car: 1. Terry Steele of Abilene, 1962 Ford Galaxie; 2. Roy Rice of Stamford, 2001 Ford Mustang GT Bullet.

• GM Muscle Car: 1. Lloyd Wingrove of Avoca, 1970 Chevy Chevelle; 2. Tevin Giles of Abilene, 1979 Oldsmobile Hurst Olds.

• Pro-Street: 1. Joe Parsons of Abilene, 1972 Chevy Pick-up; 2. Rocky Wyatt of Buffalo Gap, 1967 Chevy Camaro.

• Truck 1967-1987: 1. Charles Patterson of Breckenridge, 1970 Chevrolet Pick-up; 2. Mario Rodriguez of Anson, 1968 Chevy Pick-up.

• Import: 1. Jill Swenson of Stamford, 1976 Porsche 912E; 2. Phil Swenson of Stamford, 1956 Austin Healey 2100.

• Unfinished: 1. Larry Musick of Clyde, 1947 Ford Coupe; 2. Allen Moffett of Sylvester, 1951 Chevy 3100.

• Speciality: 1. Johnny Anders of Stamford, 1997 Chevrolet Pick-up; 2. Glen Snow of Stamford, 1988 Chevy S10.

• Motorcyle: 1. Ben Littlejohn of Stamford, 2005 Harley-Davidson with sidecar; 2. Chico Underwood of Stamford, 1999 Kawasaki Volken Drifter.

• People’s Choice: Robert Spalding of Hamlin, 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hardtop.

• Best of Show, with $200: Kyle Coker of Abilene, 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.

The Lone Star Barbecue Society sanctioned Hell or High Water BBQ for Bucks Cook-Off had 10 entries from Rising Star, Stamford, Rule, Springtown and Wichita Falls in the categories of beans, chicken, ribs and brisket. Cash awards were as follows:

• Beans: James Evans of Rising Star, Debbie Kendrick of Stamford and Randy Denson of Stamford.

• Chicken: Walker Keeney of Springtown, Danny Kendrick of Stamford, Roddy Kuenstler of Stamford, Raydon Campbell of Rule and Mike Powell of Stamford.

• Ribs: Walker Keeney of Springtown, Raydon Campbell of Rule, Roddy Kuenstler of Stamford, Mike Powell of Stamford and Larry Moreno of Stamford.

• Brisket: Ky Kuenstler of Stamford, James Evans of Rising Star, Walker Keeney of Springtown, Mike Powell of Stamford and Larry Moreno of Stamford.

• Grand Champion: Walker Keeney of Springtown.

The Horseshoe Tournament held at the TCR grounds had 15 two-person teams entered. Cash awards were as follows: 1. Noel Macias and Cato Macias; 2. J.J. Guzman and Jody Lopez; 3. Raymond Villanueva and Michael Villanueva.
