McKee wins women's roping in 1st year of qualification

The stage is set for the awarding of the High Point Header and Heeler Trophy Saddles today to wind up the 14th annual Seniors Team Roping Association Finals.
Abilene's Kerri McKee finished out the day Saturday by winning both money slots in the women's draw pot roping for a total of $288 with two different partners. McKee turned 40 early this year to qualify for the minimum age of the women entries.
A mixed roping, a No. 3 Cap draw pot and the 130 age roping will be held today.
The 130 roping will consist of two ropers whose combined age is at least 130 years.
Year-end awards were awarded by STRA founders Jim and Ned Ward of Aspermont at the Saturday night banquet held in the Display Building of the Taylor County Expo Center.
Ropers earned points in a total of nine classes that started Thursday afternoon.
