Philharmonic to perform Rachmaninoff

The Abilene Philharmonic will perform the second of four Classical concerts, “All Rachmaninoff,” at 8 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Abilene Civic Center. It will feature guest artist Alexander Ghindin, a Russian pianist.
The program will include Rachmaninoff’s 3rd piano concerto and the Symphonic Dances.
Before the concert, all ticket holders are invited to join music director and conductor David Itkin and the guest artist for a talk about the music selections. “Concert Conversations” is an informal discussion about the evening’s program, starting at 7:15 p.m. backstage, and is free to the audience.
Season tickets are on sale now with discounts and first time buyers can receive half off. All tickets for the Philharmonic 2008-09 season can be purchased by calling (325) 677-6710 or (800) 460-0610, or by visiting the Philharmonic office at 402 Cypress St. Tickets can be purchased online at www.AbilenePhilharmonic.org.
