Entries are being accepted for the Abilene Writers Guild Annual Contest 2008-2009. Categories include poetry, flash fiction, children’s stories, general interest, inspiration, memoir/nostalgia, adult fiction and novels.

Prizes for each category are $100 for first place, $65 for second and $35 for third.

Entries must be original work that is unpublished as of Sept. 1, and the entry must not have earned a cash award in any previous AWG annual contest.

Entries must be postmarked by Oct. 31. The entry cost is $5 for short pieces and $10 for book entries.

Awards will be presented at the Annual Awards Workshop and Luncheon held March 21.
