Many thanks to the Abilene Fire Department for its prompt response to the fire at the Abilene Woman's Club early Saturday morning on Aug. 16.
Lightning struck the cupola, damaging the roof and an upstairs room. In addition to extinguishing the fire, they moved furniture and put a temporary patch on the hole in the roof to prevent additional damage from the rain. They did everything they could to minimize the damage. We are grateful for these heroes!
