More Letters to the Editor
As the TV cameras at the political conventions lovingly caress the faces of people as they gaze teary eyed in awe and wonder at their particular political messiah, apparently convinced that the election of their chosen one will set their lives aright and free them from the consequences of their own poor choices and inept efforts, I am reminded of something Dr. Samuel Johnson noted over 200 years ago. He said: "How small, of all that human hearts endure, that part which laws or kings can cause or cure!"
A wise man that Dr. Johnson and ahead of his time. He also addressed all those people seeking "change we can trust." About them he said, "... e, who hath so little knowledge of human nature as to seek happiness by changing anything, but his own disposition will waste his life in fruitless efforts and multiply the griefs he proposes to remove."
