Endorsement: Conaway
United States House of Representatives 11th Congressional District of Texas
Mike Conaway, a Midland Republican, escaped a Democratic challenger this fall. That's too bad. No, we don't wish Conaway ill. We just looked forward to hearing more from Conaway about life on the Hill. Conaway's general election challenger has been invisible so there hasn't been a need for Conaway to explain his plans for the next two years. Still, Conaway clearly deserves to be re-elected to represent his West Texas district.
He deserves credit for sticking with his conservative fiscal roots, initially voting against the $700 billion Wall Street bailout bill. His decision to change his mind about the measure for the good of the nation shows he can think on his own as well. We look forward to Conaway continuing to work hard for West Texas and would like to see him press for real answers to our nation's healthcare crisis.

Mike's been in Congress for four years and can't articulate answers to our healthcare crisis? I think it's because he has none.
The CPA has been far too quiet on the financial meltdown. If anyone needed to be front and center translating for his constituents, it's Mike Conaway.
Yes, a challenger would have forced Mike to communicate. But a U.S. Congressman always has a bully pulpit. He must have answers people don't want to hear.

Did the editorial staff review the Seattle Times piece on Rep. Conaway's Defense bill earmark? It went to a tiny firm with no history of radar expertise. The owners of the firm are lobbyists who donated regularly to the Conaway campaign, as the bill made it through the process.
Mike Conaway's Albertine Earmark benefited a Virginia firm, not a Texas one.
So far, not a word in West Texas newspapers. The Standard Times is aware and has not yet endorsed Rep. Conaway. Might it be a factor in their decision?

Conaway is joke and a puppet whose strings are pulled by a corrupt political system. He "initially" voted against the "Bail-out", but voted for it the 2nd time? TOTAL Sell-out! He did it for something other than love of his country. The guy's a joke.

Mike Conaway's NRCC ran ads distorting the color of their opponent, an Iraqi war vet.

Conaway is a member of the Executive Committee and heads the Audit Committee. Does this represent Mike's values and ethics? If not, a Board member should say something.
