Abilene Police: halting theft in progress

At about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Jimmy Woods was dispatched to a theft in progress call in the 700 block of Hickory. Officer Woods contacted one of the involved parties who was a 44-year-old white female. During the investigation, Officer Woods found the female had an outstanding warrant for her arrest and she also had a controlled substance in her possession. The suspect was arrested for the warrant and for Possession of A Controlled Substance.

At about 7 p.m., Officer Brown was dispatched to a check welfare call in the 3200 block of Rebecca Lane. Officer Brown contacted a 37-year-old white male who was passed out in some bushes. The subject was intoxicated and a danger to himself and was arrested for public intoxication.

Finally, at about 9 p.m., Officer Brown was dispatched to a disturbance call in the 4200 block of Buffalo Gap Road. Officer Brown contacted a 47-year-old white male who was causing a disturbance at a convenience store and was refusing to leave the store. The subject was intoxicated and was arrested for public intoxication.
