Man arrested in student's sexual assault at school
ARLINGTON -- A 34-year-old man was arrested Friday in the sexual assault a 13-year-old girl at the same middle school his child attends, police said.
Fredrick Ramone Wright was charged with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. He remained in jail Friday afternoon. His bond was set at $100,000. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
Although the incident occurred Sept. 26, school officials said they waited until Friday to release information so they would not impede the police investigation.
According to police, a man grabbed the girl that morning while she was in the hallway at James Coble Middle School. He dragged her into the women's locker room where he sexually assaulted her, said Arlington Police Lt. Blake Miller.
Although the middle school is in Arlington, it is part of the Mansfield school district.
Wright, who was visiting the campus, had followed security procedures and signed into the campus after having his driver's license scanned, said Terry Morawski, a Mansfield school district spokesman.
The system matches information from visitors against registered sex offender databases and then prints out a photo identification badge.
Although police have not said whether Wright is a registered sex offender, a search for his name in the Texas Department of Public Safety's Sex Offender Registry returned no results, according to a report on CBS 11 News' Web site.

why was he even on school grounds in the first place? When I was a kid, thank God my folks werent allowed to just wonder the hallways lookin for whatever, or to catch me being a kid. School officials should be questioned as to why this individual was allowed to roam the halls.
