Financial bailout is disgusting

I watch this financial bailout that is going on. It just disgusts me. These CEOs are making ridiculous amounts of money. The hardworking Americans are going to have to support their lavish lifestyle with this bailout plan.

When was the last time a bank bailed us out of financial trouble? They don't. They just take your stuff. These bankers need to cut their pay down and deal with their poor lending practices. The root problem is the variable rate mortgage. You buy a house with an initial $650 monthly payment. All of a sudden, you get a letter saying your payment is going to be $1,200. Wow, they expect people to be able to afford their homes now. Now, they are foreclosing, and the banks add another house to their stockpile.

Banks got themselves in this mess, they should have to figure out how to get out of it! Higher taxes for us now. My kids didn't need that gallon of milk, the banker needed a steak. This is not an attack on our tellers, just the overpaid executives.

well well well, welcome to being a democrat. we democrats have been saying that for years while the republicans keep giving big business the breaks while the public suffers. When are the people of Abilene going to see that Jesus would have been a democrat. Jesus wouldnt give tax breaks to the rich, he would use resources to help the average man. To this day I do not understand how the republican party captured the religious crowd. As much as Jesus said about the tax payers would he give you a health program as an offset to paying taxes.... would he implement preemptive war? Would he tell the poor "i dont care if your hungry, why dont you get a job.

Yep...you've got it pegged.

When families were losing their homes, nothing was done. Even now, they want to blame people for getting bad loans. But the bankers didn't tell people what that ARM really meant to their house payment when the loan adjusted. Who in their right mind would get a note where the housepayment increased by $1200 when interest rates went up?

And why did Bernanke increase interest rates anyway? Everything was fine under Greenspan.

I can only hope that our gov't realizes that you can't abuse the public, let them flounder, file bankruptcy in droves (all the while making it harder to file), lose their homes, destroy the economy, put good folks out of work, then have the NERVE to expect the economy to stay strong.

Banks & government had better realize without the secure, strong, working middle class this country will disintegrate.

there is plenty of blame to go around. the fat cats on wall street should be thrown in jail for some of their actions.

professional politicians on both sides of the aisle should be thrown in jail for their culpability in this fiasco.

and the average person who borrowed more than they could afford should not whine now that their "chickens have come home to roost."

trying to make Jesus into either a democrat or republican shows that you have never met Him. please go back to church - or maybe try a new one.

Here's the answer:

14 "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Or maybe you don't have a prayer?

Irishman, Jesus had every opportunity to push politics. Instead, he pushed love. Including love for rich people. Yes, he warned rich people that it is hard to act right, but he didn't set up a voting booth for Democrats. Clearly.

Personal responsibility is the problem. When Joe Sixpack gets paid every Friday and every Friday he doesn't bring lunch because he's out of money, he's one pay check from being homeless.

It is his fault for buying a house he can't or won't be able to afford if such and such happens!

The tax system we use is the culprit. We need a flat tax, say 10% across the board, no mortgage deductions, and no deductions of any kind. Fair is when I make a dollar and pay a dime and Exxon makes 10 billion and pays a billion, that is fair.

Joe Sixpack was promised by the free market gang and again repeatedly by Shrub to go shopping, buy that house, live the American dream. The marketeers told him not to worry about those adjustable rate mortgages because by the time the rates go up, that new house would appreciate and be worth so much more and wages would be so high that the payments wouldn't be a problem or they could sell the house and make a big profit. Guess who took the money, sold the mortgages to Joe Sixpack's retirement fund and skipped town.

Posted by Tumbleweed on October 10, 2008 at 10:05 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Jarhead your Joe Sixpack needs to be responsible for his actions or inactions. When he's the victim of a crime that's a different story.

There was a line in a famous movie that went "stupid is what stupid does". So, if the stove is hot and Joe can see it glowing but he's led to believe he won't get burnt and grabs it anyway, he needs to learn to live with the scars.

Tumbleweed- I'm laughing here in the office today after reading your post. For once, you and I agree wholeheartedly.

Irishman, I doubt seriously that Jesus would have condoned killing babies for the cause and that of the political left. Nor do I suspect that he would offer free needles to drug offenders. Nor would he hand out condoms in high school and pat kids on the head and say, "Have fun, but be safe." And I seriously doubt that he would mandate same sex marriage, the bible is very clear on that issue as well. So, you tell me- how do you live with the choices you make when you vote for Democrats who consistently support these issues? Republicans are far from perfect, but I think you can easily see why I tend to vote in that direction more often. My conscience demands it.

JarHead, I closed on my house in Feb. '02. When I looked for a house I looked for one I thought I could afford. I went to the bank and applied for a loan for the sale price, and the first thing I told the loan officer was that I wanted a fixed rate. If all I could have gotten was an adjustible rate, I wouldn't have signed the paperwork. If you or any one else chose to accept an ARM and then gamble on the housing market, guess what you lost. Get over it. Accept responsibility for you actions (gambling thousands of dollars on the market) pay up or get out. I have no sympathy for you.

One other thing. Do ya'll really think the banks and mortgage companies wanted to give loans to poor or stupid people? Knowing they would probably default. No they didn't. The democrats forced them to make these loans under the CRA, and groups such as ACORN, Jesse Jackson, etc. threatened to sue for discrimination. If I was in thew banks position, there is no way in hell I would have held onto these mortgages. I would have sold them as fast as possible.

IF this mess allows ONE debt ridden person with ANY avenue of escape (FROM their responsibilities) by reducing their mortgage in ANY way, shape, form or fashion, EVERYBODY in US, taxpayers anyway, DESERVE compensation on a level like that the "reverse mortgagers" receive OR there will be a tremendous Stink raised.

We already have to endure the pain of giving OUR money to irresponsible bankers and IF this happens? Last Straw as far as I'm concerned..BUT watch and see what happens....

Why do people consistently only blame the ARM for this fiasco we now have. There are a basket of reasons with the main culprit sitting in the background smiling and staying quiet. Alan Greenspan led the charge by lowering the interest rates to encourage the lenders to bait these people. Then you had the lenders giving low rates to some of you folk to borrow on your equity. Then you had the credit card companies offering low interest only to raise them after people had ran the up and maxed them out. This started happening in 2002 when the housing market went crazy with $200,000 homes going for $400,000. Yes the chickens have come home to roost.

What I would like to know is what is Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac doing giving money to Obama and McCain. Aren't they government finance companies? They gave Obama $126,000 and they gave McCain $26,000. What is going on here?

Thanks for the above comment hatestheramps, but I have to disagree with you and itlldo. Watch the youtube press report Andrew Coumo gave in 1998 that I posted above. He is bragging about a settlement in a lawsuit brought by the Clinton administration on banks for not giving loans to poor credit risks. He actually uses the term "affirmitive action" loans. The banks made 2.1 billion availabe for these "affirmitive action" loans, not because they wanted to, but to settle the lawsuit.

Hates, if a loan officer intentially made bad loans just to get the commision, then a large percentage of those loans defaulted he would not be a loan officer for long.

If the government would just stay out of it, the FREE market will right itself. All of these banks who collapsed were bought up by other banks. Now, since that has happened why does the government need to spend a whole bunch of money on these banks, when the situation is just fine?

Posted by itlldo on October 10, 2008 at 4:17 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Fetus, I don't know about Clinton's banking practice, but I know that 2.1 billion is nothing compared to the 700 billion that we bailed out the banks with. I know that it is a favorite thing to bash Clinton, but in reality the republicans have been in office for 7 years and 9 months and have run this economy into the ground. They could have changed anything that they didn't like.

Will someone answer my question why Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac gave money to McCain and Obama?

Posted by Festus on October 10, 2008 at 4:38 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Itlldo, I'm not just bashing Clinton and I agree the 2.1 billion doesn't compare to the 700 billion. That does not mean the banks wanted to make these loans. They were forced to by the government.

I wish they hadn't passed that bailout bill and am glad Randy Naugabouer (or however the hell he spells it) voted against it both times it came before the House. President Bush and John McCain did try to do something about the Fannie/Freddie problem several years ago. Yes the Republicans had majority control of both houses of Congress for a while, but they did not have a filibuster proof majority, and the reforms that Bush and McCain tried to get passed never made it out of commitee. Hell, on half of the issues they couldn't get support from Republicans like Olympia Snow, Chuck Hagel, Lindsey Graham, and at times John McCain.

The reason Fannie/Freddie gave money to nearly everyone in Congress was to prevent these reforms.

Posted by Festus on October 10, 2008 at 5:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I need to better explain my thinking when I say the banks were forced to make these loans. This is the way I understand it from what I have read. If wrong, someone please tell me where.

The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) was passed in 1977 and required banks to loan to low and moderate income borrowers. At the time the requirement allowed banks to use standards that they required on all loans (such as those described by itlldo above). Then we had groups such as Jesse Jackson and ACORN file discrimination suits on behalf of people who could not get, nor repay, loans. The Clinton administration required Fannie/Freddie to back these loans, bundled as securities. The banks were then able to make bad loans (usually with ARM's) and sell the paper to Fannie/Freddie. That put tons of money out there and housing prices skyrocketed. People kept getting more cheap loans to flip houses or took out equity loan after equity loan. The housing market was a bubble and it popped. Prices started to drop, interest rates went up and people that should have never received a loan in the first place couldn't make the payments. No one held a gun to their head when they signed the papers though.

Posted by Festus on October 10, 2008 at 5:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Fannie/Freddie were then holding securities that were rated low because they were all sub-prime loans. Fannie/Freddie were then allowed to re-bundle these securities based on risk amongst themselves and rated again in a catagorie by themselves so that they could show sub-prime mortgages rated higher than they should be. This was done to make the books look better and yes, the greedy CEO's bigger bonuses.

Instead of giving 700 billion dollars to bail out the rich crooks who have abused the privalege of working in behalf of we the people again !
I would demand that each and every AMERICAN citizen be given 10 million dollars each, which would come to 3 billion before taxes ,i can vote for that and we would not have to hock our kids kids and the economy would get stimulated and parents would go to the mall with their kids !

Festus asked: please tell me what regulations were deregulated by McCain.
------
A fair question. Here is one answer....

The Architect of McCain's economic policy is former Senator Phil Gramm. Gramm is a champion of deregulation and author of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and numerous other bills, which effectively removed virtually all post depression controls on how banks invested their money. This deregulation allowed banks to buy up bundles of risky Mortgagae backed securities using borrowed money....leverage.

McCain is not directly responsible for the actions of Gramm, but he certainly preaches Gramm's message of deregulation and Gramm figures to play a prominent role in a McCain administration.

Why do you think both McCain and Obama supported the 750 billion dollar bailout of Fannie and Freddie , even before the extra 150 billion was tacked on to bailout loggers in Oregon who have run out of trees to chop down and makers of wooden arrows.

Lobbyists and the money they funnel to office holders have corrupted our political system.

Posted by Beforeuask on October 11, 2008 at 7:28 a.m. (Suggest removal)

The biggest problem i see in all this is the fact that the only one that was supposed to be holding these mortgages in the beginning was Freddie and Fannie.
Fannie and Freddie were the basic federal Garrantor of these notes.
Then deregulation. Then Hedge funds and other insurance companies started holding, insuring and trading these mortgages. Warren Buffet saw this in it's self as disasterous, and ordered Hathaway groups to stay out of it.
As the shear volume of new credit entered the market through shadowy or shady lending practices of banks and mortgage companies every one wanted a piece of it.
As notes began to fail, and property was depreciated, noone was sure who insured what for whom the system started to collapse.
A lot of hedge funds sold out and took their money off shore. The large institutions had no choice but to swap liabilities. Finally in the end the small filthy rich guys made off with the new money, and we're stuck with the bill.

How close are McCain and Liddy? At least as close as Obama and Ayers appear to be. In 1998, Liddy's home was the site of a McCain fundraiser. Over the years, he has made at least four contributions totaling $5,000 to the senator's campaigns--including $1,000 this year.

Last November, McCain went on his radio show. Liddy greeted him as "an old friend," and McCain sounded like one. "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family," he gushed. "It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."

For those who are unaware, Liddy helped plan the Watergate break-in that would cost Nixon his presidency and landed Liddy a four-year jail sentence.

But Liddy's career of inflammatory statements and actions exceed his Watergate actions.

Liddy, on Vitenam:

"I wanted to bomb the Red River dykes [sic]. It would have drowned half the country and starved the other half. There would have been no way the Viet Cong could have operated if we had the will-power to do that."
Liddy, advising Branch Davidians how to defend themselves from ATF agents during a radio show:

"If the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms insists upon a firefight, give them a firefight. Just remember, they're wearing flak jackets and you're better off shooting for the head."
Liddy, on the impact Adolf Hitler had on him as a child:

When he listened to Hitler on the radio, it "made me feel a strength inside I had never known before," he explains. "Hitler's sheer animal confidence and power of will [entranced me]. He sent an electric current through my body."

nod Donny i must agree with you on liddy .
i recently called his show two months ago and questioned him about his untruths on the finacial system and where it was headed ,i also commented on the fiat monetary system we now use and have for sometime and suggested a 10 million dollar stimulus for each and every AMERICAN citizen , while i was waiting to talk to this B#%$@*d , i heard him assure someone that obama could not cause any real threat to our country because of congress and the senate ! To say the least he was not happy with my stimulus idea for the AMERICAN people and thought we were not responsible enough to deal with wealth and i also corrected him on the fact that not only obama but any commander in chief could stop congress and the senate from intervening with them and he commented," oh really and just how can they do that ?" I stated MARTIAL LAW !! and he hung-up on me . We have to stand as we the people again as allways in crisis we have , we must include the younger generations and open their eyes to what they can do to stop this wholesale destruction of our economy and country,
let's give Patriatism a real try and stop these political mafisos from enslaving the ideals of this nation before we are nomore ! I say do not vote them out but throw them out with nothing but a minimum wage job at an airport .

I can not see how a person of liddy's carecture can be a conservative pundit. This criminal is a spokesperperson for republicans and a personal friend McCain. Why hasn't the mainstream media picked this up and ran with it. Oh yea Obama, unlike McCain wants to argue the issues.

I suggest you check your facts Festus. The information you posted about Obama's alleged economic advisers has been throughly discredited.

Obama is certainly not an ideal candidate and has many shortcomings. That Fannie Mae execs serve as his economic advisers is not among them.

Posted by Festus on October 12, 2008 at 9:44 a.m. (Suggest removal)

To equate what G. Gordon Liddy did to what Bill Ayers did is stupid. Liddy's actions were on the same level as what ACORN is doing now under Obama's direction. I hope eventually Obama spends as much time in prison as Liddy did. Bill Ayers tried and did actually kill people and your side has embraced him. That is why he is a "respected" member of society in Chicago.

Dr._dawggy, those two are indeed advisers to Obama. To discredit something one would have to have a bit of creditability themselves. The main stream meadia have none.

You know I really think the grassroots up economic policy would cure more than the current trickle down idea, and be cheaper to boot. If I had a million dollars or ten million dollars I'd pay off all my bills, credit cards, loans etc. I might buy new vehicles or a new house or all kind of things. At 35% tax rate the government would get a good bit of money directly back.

I really don't see the down side to giving the money to the people instead of the banks. Can someone tell me WHY it would not be a good idea?

Dear Wild_Bill,Donny and reaganite ,
Our government has already borrowed enough money on the war in iraq to give every human on the planet 1 billion dollars each and still have change .
so my wonder is who and where is all this money going to? I know it is only electronic cash at most and as for weapons of mass destruction if I remember correctly argeintina has had the technology and ability for nuclear weapons since the 50's but i guess due to their lack of oil ,the government does not deem their missle capabilities as a threat to our national security ? The feeding frenzy of the government and wall street is like a bunch of pirana .
by stopping the bailout bill and starting the stimulate the people first bill by giving us 10 million each you also save in health care, welfare do away with the need for credit, pay off the defunct mortages individually , no more homless, if an AMERICAN is under 18 their 10 million is put in government bonds with the interest as an allowance until they reach 18 then it is theirs . The Wall street gang can pay for their pedicures and lawyers and bailout the mess they created themselves not us.

reganite,
i must be misunderstanding your equation for the quintillion number you have listed.
what i did was subtract 6.2 billion from 600 billion and the change equaled 593.8 billion .
but we could subtract the population of the world 6.6 billion people from the 700 billion bailout package ,before the other pork barrel billions are added 700 - 6.6 = 693.4 ,maybe i better go take another drug test , i know i can pass that !
thanks again for the negative input it helps to keep the positive input in perspective ! lol

I have to disagree with you on your solution though. I do not agree with the bailout that was passed. Fannie/Freddie and all the others should have been allowed to fail. The Federal Reserve is just printing this 700 billion so inflation is going to skyrocket. If you are going to need boots, jeans or anything else you know you will need to buy next year I would suggest buying them now if you can. If you gave everyone ten million I don't think it would be long before we're paying $250 for a loaf of bread. The US dollar would be meaningless.

It is still rough around the edges , my mother called all freaked out that people on the news channels where saying what i told her two years ago is happining now , i know where some cheap land by water is festus taxes are 11.00 a year next payday i will get an extra one , give a holler

This bailout bill will not be repealed. Each step towards socialism is a step that cannot be taken back. Once you get people accustomed to receiving unearned handouts they will not want to give them up and will do nothing to support themselves or contribute to helping others.

Earl, if you want to live as if it was 1850 help yourself. I don't. If you want to live in a socialist country? Help yourself, there's plenty out there. Everywhere socialism has been tried it has failed and there is a reason their markets tanked when ours did. They didn't beleive in their own system. They based theirs on our capitalist style markets because they knew it was better than thier own.As I said before, there are plenty of other socialist countries out there. This country is the last chance we have for a life of not only true rights and freedoms, but personal responsibility and accountability. If you want socialism, you have somewhere else to go. I don't and will fight to keep my life as it is here.

Festus it is not a hand out it is a hand up , I do not want to live as if it is 1850 but i have to look at the bottom line which is i may not have a real choice in the matter . You know Jesus said to commune in all things equally ,if you had two coats give one to someone who had none, if you had two pair of shoes give one to someone with none because you can only wear one pair or one coat , our capalitistic view has been the one with the most toys wins ,care for the widows and orphans and love GOD with all your heart, your mind, and your soul.
Feastus i hope you do not live in a major city because soon you will be fighting to stay, not only the government , but the masses of people who can no longer afford the cost of living and will come in herds and just start taking it will happen at the wa-marts and k-marts stores at first then it will be blocks of houses at a time , places of employment, then martial law and the confiscation of weapons then the starving masses from honduras, mexico, and south america will come in masses like locust . be prepared for all that is coming because it is coming !

when i pointed this out at some post offices and ask how to obtain a poster , they did not know and now the wanted poster is gone !
but the stock market is flying high and people are fast forgeting the moments of panic and like you said next year buying things will be hard ! when i lived in austin i was in a co-op and as a co-op we got food at the same prices the re-tail grocers did the differance of cost was amazing and then every sunday the co-op would gather at a park to socialize(oops)and play volley ball crochet ect.. , of course the married women would be fixin the meal and match makin the singles and the kids where hangin out bein kids.
We played guitars and discussed issues of the time and i was totally unused to this coming from abilene ,i was a ruff and gruff ruffneck but they helped me see a different place and way,but if i had not been social and just spent my 2300.00 per week bring home ,and capitalized on my own , i would still be under the tremendous strain that most middle to upper class must be and there are alternatives ,and solutions but ya'll are kept so busy juggling your income against outgoing that it has become almost to much and the ones offering help and a way out ,meant for them not you !
so lets demand stimulation for the people of our nation not the perpretraitors of wall street and the federal unreserved bunk .
i must go the tin man is squeaking somethin about oil ,my straw is blowin loose from all the hot air and oh! no! humpty-dumpty just fell off the wall , wait... ,there is a shadowy figure slinking from the back of the wall ,it looks ,it is the regainknotsofbush8us !

I have yet to hear any REAL problems mentioned with the "grassroot" stimulus idea earl suggested. We've tried the "trickle down" since Reagan and I can't tell anything has "trickled down" except my IRA.

Maybe it's time we tried a REAL stimulus. Give the money (printed up, electronic, whatever) to the people who produced it to start with. The bottom up stimulus would be way cheaper than anything Congress has yet suggested. That nonsensical $600 each earlier this year did very little. It didn't even buy us a new refrigerator when the old one quit. $20 million (for a couple before taxes) would fix a bunch of things around my house. Might even have money left over to invest. Sure don't have anything now.

The only negative I can see is "who would do the minimum wage jobs?" afterwards. earl, would your prison guard friend continue to work in the prisons if she got $10 million (before taxes)?

wild_bill ,
Thank you brother i have been waiting for that exact question ! i have been waiting and the answer is NO, but instead of 12 hrs. per day she would work 6-8 hrs per day 3 days per week for no pay , we all will have already been paid ,the whole system will be changed until our generation that did not recieve the stimulus package reaches the workforce and by then the system should have corrected its cash flow and minimum wage should be around 10.00 dollars per hour , we also can and should bus in people from other countries under strict guidelines and pay them well for their works and bus them back and forth as needed doing away with the coyotes ,these questions are what needs to be addressed Wild_Bill and it will take contributional thought on the how to from all of us,great input !
thanks Brother

Wow Earl. I never really thought there could be a place where all humanity could live as one but reading your words of wisdom I now understand that I was wrong. You're really deep and insightful. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. If you don't have one yet I would encourage you to start one. You could use the Democrat logo on it and send it out unsolicited. That way, people that need your guidance and leadership but don't know it yet could still reap the benefits of your wisdom and eventually see the light.

Keep up the good work, Brother.

earl,I wish you would stop with the deliberate misspelling and the hick lingo, some of us know you are only poking fun at a few. Even though your idea is outlandish and would never be considered you come across as someone who is more educated than your postings show. The idea of bailing out the multi-Billion dollar Corporations leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth, it is better than a total melt down of the world economy. If you haven't felt or been touched by the squeeze, you will soon enough unless you just happen to have a few thousands of dollars lying around.

whatif i from and with all my heart apologize to everyone and please believe me when i say i only tried to bring humor to a very serious situation,my solution is however plausible and i continue to push it to the government . I am prepared and am almost debt free with some silver and gold, plus the basic essentials to hang on. When the chad thing started with Mr. Al Gore , i said then who would win and the consequences of the winner being in power, there are some in abilene that know this ,but if they have not told you then they probly will not ! I started then preparing but some major surgery slowed me up , I am prepared and have been for sometime ! I will not reveal to you what is coming ,not out of spite or ill-temperament for this is not in me ,i am just tired and see the pointlessnous of it . The one most important thing for everyone is faith, charity and hope !
Jesus is my light and GOD is our saviour ,again i do apologize and hope you all the best of times and that you all prosper and i am wrong this i pray nightly ! amen

whatif, we've TRIED the top-down strategiy and it only works for the corporations and fat cats. The folks on the bottom and in the middle just keep getting screwed tighter and tighter to the wall. Why not FOR ONCE trying giving just 1/100th of the amount they give to the corporations to the people? How much worse off will we be? Anyone? Whether it's $3 billion or $30 billion, it's still miles cheaper than $250 or $700 billion and the money would get to the people who need it and would best use it.

The government has promised hundreds of billions and the stock market is down nearly 800 points right now. Worldwide they are talking trillions of dollars into the banks. For goodness sake, can't we try giving real money, not the $600 a piece pittance, to the people? $1 million or even $10 million is nothing to Buffet or Gates, but to Wild_Bill it would be a truly life-changing amount.

4th_horseman right on,i have been in 3 booms and saw more than my share of worms .The old time real "ruffnecks" taught me to give it like you get it and leave it better than you found it !
wild_bill get you a .22 rifle and pistol if you can and a couple of thousand rounds , keep a quick to go bag that will carry you and your wife for a few days ,a good skinning knife and light camping gear is good !small box of .22 rat shot for the pistol may GOD be with you because a government that borrows money from you to lend it to you is INSANE !

Bill, I strongly agree that trickle down only works with s**t and it tends to cover everything at the bottom. Realisticly speaking, earls' idea stands as much as a chance as in a last minute deal the constitution being change to let GWB finish bankrupting the country just so he can say "I told you it would work". Now that THEY have the money does not mean they have to spend it. Just wait, and use it where it will be needed the most. Some of us were glad to see oil skyrocket because we knew in the end it would be good for us. We threw out the baby with the bath water, now look, OPEC and the oil companies will give all of you a nice Xmas present this year. Given time the banks will change to, why should you pay to have your money in a bank? They should feel privledge to have you deposit your mony with them. We will have this once again if they want some of this money. It's called give and take. Want some money, show us what you are going to do differently now. We own some of these banks now, John Q. Public. We get to sit on the board of Directors to say how much retirement packages are back loaded. Our biggest problem is, who do we want to elect to represent our interest? The same people who turned a blind eye to what was happening or a new bunch with our interest in mind. That is the question. Do we want a hand-off or do we want a new formation?

wild_bill beforeuask 4th_ horseman , hey Grace and peace to ya'll !
I was prospecting for gold in colorado in the 1980's and was on a 3 day hunt with a native coloradian , on the morning of the 3rd day i woke up and went to open the tent flap , and got tennis elbow , golf swing syndrome , it was frozen shut and i not expecting reistance got some so it ,well anyway i kicked and punched, pushed untill i could stick my head out and what i saw as a flat-lander , what the mountain men call us, was awesome a total whiteout . I could not even see the candy apple red blazer we had came in ! we were just below timberline and Reggie had been insistant on certain rules of procedure for setting up camp even for just 3-days,thank GOD ! I woke Reggie up and said hey get a look at this,he gets up looks out and when he turns to me I saw and heard the panic in his eyes and voice ! He said earl we need three days firewood in the tent right now ( it was a large military tent with a wood burning stove ,small) and how much food do we have left .I freaked this was our last day and we had planned to work our way down and then eat a hot meal at the first town on the way in !
My first instinct was to cram the last part of my baked potato and two granolia bars in my mouth and say we did not have any food left ,and it was a strong urge ,but i very calmly tallied up the few items and told reggie he said o.k. i am going to the blazer watch for me ,see he had tied a rope from the tent door to the blazer so that if this happened we could get to the blazer ! He came back with the wood he had insisted on putting in the Blazer and one can of vieanna sausage,we knocked the weight ice and snow off the tent and sat down togther and ate the most delicious gourmet meal i had ever had and the next day we were able to start down and i managed to shoot a grouse hen with my pistol ,just in case .
What i am trying to say with out offending anyone( o'well) is what happened to us is what is happening in the economy right now ,but i guess they are cramming all the food in their mouths and saying ,there is no more !
