Clyde woman dies in crash

An 18-year-old Clyde woman was pronounced dead early this morning from injuries she sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 36 late Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Kimberly Rae Ayers died at 2:29 a.m. after being transported to an Abilene hospital following the 11:25 p.m. crash about 27 miles southeast of Abilene on Highway 36, one mile west of Highway 283 in Callahan County.

Ayers was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi westbound on Highway 36 when her car crossed the center stripe into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a truck driven by John Gorka, 43, of May.

The DPS reported that the road surface was dry and weather clear to partly cloudy at the time of the accident.

The crash is being investigated by Trooper Joel Timms of Baird, according to a DPS news release.

Funeral arrangements were being handled by Bailey Funeral home in Clyde, according to the news release. -- Staff report

ARN-Was the girl from Clyde or Eula? She herself may have felt strongly tied to Eula, even with a Clyde address.
Prayers and thoughts go out to the family, and friends.
