Abilene Police report: wrong way up freeway exit
At about 12:20 a.m. this morning, Officer Chris Herd saw a vehicle going the wrong way up an exit ramp of Winters Freeway at Southwest Drive. Officer Herd was able to stop the vehicle and found the driver, a 21-year-old white male, to be intoxicated. The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Thursday night, at about 8:30 p.m., Officer Collins was dispatched to a shoplifter call in the 1600 block of Highway 351. Officer Collins contacted a 30-year-old white female suspect, who gave a false name and date of birth. Her identity was confirmed through fingerprints, and she was arrested for theft, failure to identify and an outstanding warrant for motion to revoke probation.
At about 10:05 p.m., Officer Andrew Valdez stopped a vehicle for expired registration at South 1st and Sayles. As Officer Valdez approached the vehicle, he could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. During the subsequent investigation, the suspect, a 25-year-old black male, was found to be in possession of several baggies of marijuana and was arrested.

There seems to be an abundance of 'intoxicated' Abilenians.

There seems to be an abundance of 'intoxicated' Americans. Especially behind the wheel. Scary.

Unless I'm foncused, both access roads are one-way in that area...which means this dude actually had to pull almost a full U-turn to enter the exit ramp.
I can see why the officer suspected he was intoxicated.

Is there anyone, anywhere, who still believes in Reaganomics? Ever since "VooDoo Economics" (--GHWB) appeared in 1981, we have seen one series of scams after another. First, the S&L Crisis of the 1980s, then the Leveraged Buyouts of the 1990s, and now the Free-Market Meltdown of the 2010s. We are witnessing the utter destruction for our free enterprise system by the false gods of deregulation, led by Phil Gramm and Newt Gingrich. When Reagan spoke of "trickle" down effect, we had no idea just how tiny the trickle would be. Now we do. It is now 30 years overdue to re-regulate the finance markets. Put rational limits on banks, credit card carriers, brokers, and exchange markets. It's pretty clear which party would bring sanity to our economic policies and which would continue driving us to the poor house.
