A former secretary for Scurry County Justice of the Peace Deborah Boyd was indicted this week on theft charges by a grand jury.
Grace Alma Salazar, 46, is charged with five counts of theft by a public servant. She is accused of taking more than $1,500 but less than $20,000 between March 2005 and August 2007 on separate occasions while working in Boyd's office.
n A 21-year-old Abilene man was arrested Tuesday after a vehicle pursuit through parts of Abilene.
Police had been conducting surveillance in a southside neighborhood where numerous burglaries have been occurring. The man was witnessed by a police officer taking stolen property from a residence.
He is being held at Taylor County Jail on $115,000 bond. An investigation is continuing.

n Theft, 4300 block of Buffalo Gap Road, Tuesday
A suspect stole an item valued at $87 from a mall department store and fled from police. He was arrested after a foot chase. It was not clear what the man is accused of stealing.
n Burglary, 2300 block of Oakland Drive, Wednesday
A suspect broke into an apartment by prying a kitchen window open. The resident has been out of the country and has not yet been contacted to determine if any items are missing.
n Theft, 200 block of Arnold Boulevard, Wednesday
A push lawn mower valued at $150 was stolen from the victim's home.
n Credit card abuse, 4300 block of Buffalo Gap Road, Wednesday
A credit card stolen from a woman's purse at a local health club was used to make two large purchases at the mall.
