Man charged with hitting 2 children

An Abilene man is facing two charges of injury to a child after allegedly striking two children in the face.

Johnny Dwight Houston Jr. 22, was arrested Wednesday at the Abilene Department of Public Safety office. Bond was set at $60,000 for the two charges.

Houston is accused of hitting the children he was baby sitting -- a 3-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy -- in the face on April 22, according to an arrest affidavit. When the children's mother returned home, they had red marks on their faces, the affidavit alleged.

Houston previously has been convicted of burglary of a habitation and has several drug-related arrests, according to a public records search.

Injury to a child is a felony.
