Another arrest in car burglary ring

A car burglary ring that hit Taylor County earlier this year apparently is no more.

A third suspect in the ring that apparently operated throughout the county in March and April turned himself into authorities Tuesday on a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity.

Garrett Anthony Morales, 19, is accused of breaking into more than 25 cars and committing theft, according to an arrest affidavit for Morales.

He is accused of committing the theft with two roommates, Thomas James Richter, 22, and Caleb Benjamin Martin, 19, the affidavit alleged. All three suspects admitted the thefts to police, according to reports.

The crimes were committed by either two members of the group, or all three, depending upon the time and situation, reports said. All three shared in the profits.

Richter and Martin were arrested in mid-August. None of the suspects has previously been arrested in Taylor County, according to court records.

All three suspects have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a felony. Punishment ranges from 180 days to 99 years in jail.

all three are adults. They were trying to hurry up and become millionairs before they found out they didn't know everything.

It all starts with "steeling" and then it turns into robbery with a gun and then shooting up someone's property.

Stop the madness!

Note to any young people reading this: You will make more money flipping burgers than stealing or dealing drugs! Surprise! There is no way out of getting a job! Nothing else pays as much! Those movies showing robbing, dealing, and killing as a wonderful life are total lies. Do it and you will be living with the trash of the earth in prison! Do not take serious life advice from your friends. They are your age and although they act like they are brilliant, they are no smarter than you are! Where is it that they are supposed to have gained all of this "wisdom" they spout off with confidence? Ask someone older - like you parents or kin - before you do something you know nothing about. Don't let you friends use you as crash test dummies for their wild ideas and schemes. They do not work for long! And one drug or felony charge, including pot or alcohol, will screw you out of ever getting a good job...think!

bigalluvsu-The better question would have been where were there fathers. Moms are important, but never underestimate the importance of a good man in a young man's life. (I am a mom, and thankfully my children have a wonderful role model in my husband).

lillian5--i totally agree with you! tons of the "friends" i had in high school use to teach me everything i thought i should know ended up being a dead end road. thankfully, i learned that they weren't any good BEFORE i got in trouble, but a lot of them didn't. some only did a couple years and others are looking at life. sad, sad path. i'm really lucky that my parents stepped in and didn't allow my behavior to get out of hand and go too far. they definitely nipped it in the bud. kids need boundaries and most of them WANT those boundaries.
