Abilene gets inch of rain today
A line of strong thunderstorms swept through the Big Country early this morning and are headed toward Dallas-Fort Worth just in time for the morning rush hour.
As the thunderstorms moved eastward and exited the eastern portions of the Big Country this morning, they left behind a few lingering pockets of light rain showers and isolated thunderstorms.
The system is expected to leave behind mostly cloudy skies this morning that will clear as clouds move eastward as the day progresses, according to the National Weather Service. Highs today are expected to be in the high 70s or low 80s across the Big Country. The low tonight is expected to be 56.
Rainfall totals reported this morning across the city ranged from .88 of an inch at Abilene Fire Department Station No. 8 at 5680 Buffalo Gap Road to 1.11 inches at Fire Station No. 5 at 1250 E.N. 16th St.
