Testimony opens in Coleman trial of man accused of killing baby

Testimony began Monday in 42nd District Court in Coleman in the trial of 24-year-old Charles Yarbrough.

Yarbrough was charged with capital murder in connection with the 2006 death of his 15-month-old foster daughter Lacey Nichols.

Prosecutors said Lacey died of blunt force trauma to the head, caused by Yarbrough, KTXS-TV reported, while defense attorneys said Lacey had suffered prior injuries when Yarbrough was not present.

Several nurses testified that Lacey had several bruises -- both old and new -- on her head and abdomen, according to the television station. A doctor that treated Lacey in Coleman testified that she was bleeding in her head, which he said 99 percent of the time was caused by trauma.

The state is expected to continue to present its case today.

People including the media should find out all the facts before assuming things. This man is innocent until proven guilty! The woman really responsible for all that this baby girl went through is because of her biological mother. Her mother sat by and did nothing while her father did the unimaginable to her, which is why this baby was in foster care to begin with and why the mother will never have custody of her other children. No one seems to care about that part of the story!
