TxDOT seeks public's input at town halls
The Texas Department of Transportation invites residents to share their thoughts on transportation infrastructure needs in three West Texas town hall meetings scheduled in October and November.
The first meeting is Wednesday at the Abilene City Hall, 555 Walnut St. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for registration, and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
TxDOT and local transportation authorities will be available to answer questions and provide information on regional transportation projects and funding.
"We know we haven't been as effective in engaging the public as we need to be," said Amadeo Saenz, TxDOT executive director, in a news release. "This is an excellent opportunity for the citizens of Texas to provide feedback on regional transportation needs."
Mary Kilgore, public information officer for Abilene, said the meeting will provide Abilenians a venue to discuss issues that affect them.
"These are your highways and your future, and the best way to help TxDOT shape the future of the highway system is with your input," Kilgore said.
Residents have two more town hall opportunities to discuss transportation issues in November: Nov. 5 in McAllen and Nov. 13 in the Midland/Odessa area.

Why bother? They have not listened to the public in years. The ramps, Arnold Blvd. bridge, etc...
I think that they just like to portray the image that "We listen to your concerns" even though they fall on deaf ears.
