Peppers Pride breaks horse racing record

Peppers Pride, a racehorse owned by Abilene restaurant owner Joe Allen, won her 17th consecutive race and broke a longstanding record in the sport.

The horse is 17-0 to start her career, the longest winning streak without a loss for a horse at the beginning of its career.

Peppers Pride had been tied with several other horses at 16-0 before winning a race today in New Mexico.

See Sunday's Reporter-News for more details.
