AUSTIN (AP) -- Here is the weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for Oct. 1. (Report also available on Web as www.txfishing.com.)
CENTRAL
BROWNWOOD: Water clear; 81 degrees; 3.61' low. Black bass are very good on Bass Hogg inline buzz frogs and 3/16oz. Pig Sticker Shaky Heads with Grande Bass 4" redbug and watermelon/chartreuse tailed Trickster worms along the docks, rocks, and near brush piles in 2-8 feet early and 8-16 feet later, and on topwaters frogs, torpedoes, and Pop-R's on main lake flats near grass. Hybrid striper are good trolling hellbenders near the Woodsman of the World camp. White bass are good on Li'l Fishies off lighted docks at night. Crappie are good on Li'l Fishies and minnows over brush piles in Little Rocky Cove in 10-20 feet, and under lighted docks at night. Channel catfish are good on cut bait and nightcrawlers over baited holes in 12-22 feet. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch and worms in 5-14 feet.
COLEMAN: Water clear; 81 degrees; 4.54' low. Black bass are fair on live minnows and dark soft plastic worms. Hybrid striper are good on chartreuse striper jigs and live minnows. Crappie are good on minnows over brush. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.
WEST
ALAN HENRY: Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; .02' low. Black bass to five-pounds are fair on shad-colored spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs.
ARROWHEAD: Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 5.00' low. Black bass are fair on topwaters near surface vegetation off the dam early, and crankbaits along rocky points. Crappie are very good on jigs fished deep off the derricks. White bass are good -- schooling and chasing shad on the surface early and late. Blue catfish are fair on juglines with cut shad set on flats about 8 feet deep.
COLORADO CITY: Water clear; 77 degrees; 7.43' low. Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are slow. Catfish are slow.
FORT PHANTOM HILL: Water clear; 75 degrees; 0.56' low. Black bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair on live bait. Catfish are fair on live bait.
HUBBARD CREEK: Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 1.78' low. Black bass are fair on shad-colored spinnerbaits and black neon or cotton candy soft plastics worked along reeds. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. White bass and hybrid striper are good on live bait and crankbaits. Catfish are good on live bait.
NASWORTHY: Water lightly stained; 76 degrees. Black bass are fair on live bait. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Redfish are fair. White bass and striped bass are fair. Catfish are fair on live bait.
OAK CREEK: Water lightly stained; 74 degrees; 2.00' low. Black bass are fair. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on live bait.
O.H. IVIE: Water lightly stained; 79 degrees; 12.99' low. Black bass are fair on topwaters, shad-colored crankbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits along points and drop-offs, and live bait worked along tree lines. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on live bait. Smallmouth bass are fair on live bait. Channel catfish are good on cut and live bait.
POSSUM KINGDOM: Water stained; 81 degrees; 2.07' low. Black bass to 5 pounds are good on main lake points with red jigs, watermelon Senkos, white chatterbaits or spinnerbaits and silver crankbaits in 3-15 feet. Crappie are slow on small white and yellow jigs worked along deep wood structure. White bass are excellent on spoons, Little George's and Silver Rat-L-Traps while schooling along rocky points. Striped bass are good on live shad and large shad-colored topwaters below the dam. Catfish are excellent on live shad, cut bait, worms and liver along the river channel on the north end and below the dam.
SPENCE: Water lightly stained; 79 degrees; 50.66' low. Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are slow. Striped bass and hybrid striper are slow. Catfish are slow.
STAMFORD: Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 2.34' low. Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White and striped bass are fair on live bait. Catfish are fair on live bait and stinkbait.
SWEETWATER: Water lightly stained; 78 degrees; 2.02' low. Black bass are slow on live bait. Crappie are slow on minnows and jigs. White bass are slow. Catfish are slow.
WHITE RIVER: Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 29.40' low. Black bass are slow on green pumpkin soft plastics along grass lines and shad-colored crankbaits along points and channels. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Walleye are fair on live bait. Channel catfish are fair.
WICHITA: Water stained and clearing; 75 degrees; 0.30' low. Crappie are slow around pilings and off the dam. White bass and hybrid striper to 7 pounds are fair on minnows and live shad near the dam. Channel catfish are fair drifting shad and on trotlines.
