Race distance: 400 miles, 160 laps.
Last race: Kyle Busch maneuvered by two-time defending series champ Jimmie Johnson, passing him high on the next-to-last lap after the restart to win the Lifelock.com 400 on July 12. It was Busch's seventh Cup victory of the season and 14th spanning NASCAR's three series. He won a Nationwide race on the same track the previous night for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Last year: Tony Stewart won the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, but was fined $25,000 and docked 25 points by NASCAR for cursing during his postrace television interview.
Fast facts: The winner of this race has gone on to win the championship six times, most recently Johnson in 2006. Stewart did it the previous year. ... Juan Pablo Montoya has made two starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, winning the Indianapolis 500 in 2000 and finishing second in last year's NASCAR event. ... The No. 3 pole position is the only position that has produced more than one winner since this race began in 1994. Jeff Gordon won twice (1994 and 1998) from the spot and Bobby Labonte won in 2000 from No. 3. ... On Monday, the National Stock Car Racing Commission upheld NASCAR's original penalties assessed to Dale Earnhardt Inc. regarding the No. 1 car during the opening day of inspection at Daytona on July 3. Driver Martin Truex Jr. and car owner Teresa Earnhardt each lost 150 championship points.

Last race: Carl Edwards passed Jason Leffler with 48 laps remaining and cruised to victory at the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250. The defending champion earned only his second victory in 22 starts this season.
Last year: Leffler took the lead from Greg Biffle with two laps to go in the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis and raced to his first Busch win in three years -- and Toyota's first victory ever in the series. Leffler's last series win came on June 12, 2004, in the Federated Auto Parts 300 in Nashville.
Fast facts: There have been 11 different winners in the last 11 races at Indianapolis. Seven of them have gone on to win the season's championship. ... Indianapolis Motor Speedway is more popular, but the majority of motorsports events in Indianapolis are held at O'Reilly Raceway Park, including two of this weekend's NASCAR events. ... Toyota has dominated the series this season, winning 14 of 20 races. Of those victories, 13 have come from Joe Gibbs Racing -- five from Tony Stewart, four from Kyle Busch, three from Denny Hamlin and one from rookie Joey Logano.

Track: O'Reilly Raceway Park (oval, 0.686 miles, 12 degrees banking in turns).
Race distance: 137.2 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Kyle Busch came up five spots short in his bid to make NASCAR history and Johnny Benson took advantage, holding off Michael Annett to win the Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway. Busch was attempting to become the first driver to win in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, Nationwide Series and Craftsman Truck Series in successive starts.
Last year: Ron Hornaday Jr. passed Travis Kvapil 30 laps from the finish of the 201-lap Power Stroke Diesel 200, then maintained his lead after two late restarts -- the last of which came on lap 199.
Fast facts: Johnny Benson grabbed the lead in the standings by one point over Matt Crafton. Previous points leader Ron Hornaday finished 10th at Kentucky, dropping him to third. ... The differences between the top five drivers in the standings (101 points) and top 10 (227) are the closest-ever for the series after 13 races. ... Last week's race did boast a historical milestone for Roush Racing, which eclipsed Spears Motorsports to become the team with the most starts in truck history. ... New England Patriots WR Randy Moss made his debut as a truck owner last week. Willie Allen drove the No. 81 Rascal Flatts Chevrolet under the newly formed team and finished 15th. ... Hornaday holds the truck record with 18 short-track wins. That is exactly half of his series-leading 36 victories.

Last race: Penske finished 1-2 at the Honda Indy 200 with Ryan Briscoe beating teammate Helio Castroneves for his second IndyCar victory. An unintended pit strategy gave the Aussie an edge Sunday and he drove to an easy win on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Briscoe got his first victory this year at Milwaukee.
Last year: Inaugural race.
Fast facts: This event was previously on the calendar of the defunct Champ Car series. ... A team has posted 1-2 finishes in each of the last two races. Chip Ganassi Racing's duo of Scott Dixon and Dan Wheldon did it the previous week in Nashville. ... Scott Dixon, who finished third at Mid-Ohio, will carry a 58-point lead over Helio Castroneves into this week's race. Tony Kanaan, who finished seventh last week, is 90 points behind in third.

Last event: Tony Bartone raced to his first NHRA victory in Funny Car at the Schuck's Auto Supply Nationals after more than six years of professional racing. After a shaky first half of the season that included six DNQs, Bartone defeated Ron Capps, who was also trying to break out of a winless streak that dates to 2007 at Richmond. Tony Schumacher, in Top Fuel, and Jason Line, in Pro Stock, also were winners.
Last year: John Force earned a victory at the NHRA Nationals at Infineon Raceway. Greg Anderson became the sixth professional and the 10th driver in history to win 50 NHRA races when he took Pro Stock. Schumacher won Top Fuel and Matt Smith took Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Fast facts: Despite losing in the first round to No. 1 qualifier Robert Hight, Tim Wilkerson maintained his Funny Car lead and clinched a spot in the Countdown to the Championship. ... Schumacher will try to become the sixth driver in NHRA history and fourth in Top Fuel to sweep the three "Western Swing" cities, which includes Morrison, Colo., Kent, Wash., and Sonoma. ... Line, who has advanced to five finals this season, moved within 10 points of second-place Kurt Johnson in the Pro Stock standings.
