Eagle Band Boosters selling fireworks

The Abilene High School Eagle Band Boosters will be operating the Alamo Fireworks SuperStore on I-20 E. at Elmdale Road, until Friday.

Proceeds from all sales will benefit the Abilene High School Eagle Band program, providing funds for instruments and uniforms, marching band equipment and supplies, music lessons and instrument repairs for the more than 200 strong Eagle Band.

Abilene Community Band to perform for the Fourth of July

The Abilene Community Band will perform a traditional Fourth of July concert as part of a neighborhood event at 10:15 a.m. Friday at South 10th Street and Sayles Boulevard.

A resident of the area, John Iman, is coordinating the activities. South 10th Street will be blocked from Sayles Boulevard to Highland Avenue.

The band has played a Fourth of July concert on the lawn of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest for several years. The Sayles Boulevard and South 10th Street concert will replace the church concert this year. Admission is free, and attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs.
