Cancer screening: Free prostate cancer screenings will be provided Sept. 17 at the office of Dr. Robert Pelfrey, 1665 Antilley Road, Suite 240.

The screening includes a PSA blood test and a digital rectal exam.

Space is limited, and reservations are required. For reservations, call (325) 793-5102.

Alzheimer's screening: Screening for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 5 at University Place Senior Community, 1250 E.N. 10th St. The screening will use the GrayMatters Assessment System.

Three free educational sessions will also be held: "When Is Memory Loss a Problem?" from 10 to 10:30 a.m.; "The Importance of Early Recognition and Diagnosis" from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.; and "Community Resources for Alzheimer's/Dementia Patients and Their Families" from 11:25 a.m. to noon.

The cost is $50 per person. Drop-ins will be accepted on a space-available basis. For more information or to make an appointment, call (325) 670-9610.

Support group: Rainbows, a six-week support group held by Hendrick Hospice Care for children who have suffered a loss, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday from Sept. 16 to Oct. 16 at Southern Hills Church of Christ, 3666 Buffalo Gap Road.

Rainbows is open to children in kindergarten through 12th grade who have suffered loss through death, divorce, separation or deployment. The six-week session also includes a peer support group for parents or guardians of Rainbows participants.

WINTERS

Dove Fest: The sixth annual Winters Dove Fest will begin at 8 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Winters Community Center on Highway 1770. Admission will be $7.50 and will include a barbecue lunch with drink and dessert.

The Winters Gun and Knife show will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Winters. Admission will be $3 for adults and free for children under 11.

Dove hunts will be held at locations around Winters for $50 per person.

There will also be a clay pigeon fun shoot from 8 to 11 a.m. and a motorcycle fun run at 9 a.m. plus food, door prizes, entertainment and auctions.
