BRONTE
Historical show: The ninth annual Fort Chadbourne Fundraiser and 150th Butterfield Stage Stop production will begin at 5 p.m. Sept. 20 at Fort Chadbourne.
The Butterfield Overland Mail's first stagecoach passed through Fort Chadbourne on Sept. 23, 1858, traveling 2,800 miles from St. Louis to San Francisco. Barry Corbin will star as the station keeper, reliving events from trail.
Tickets are $100 per person, which includes a steak dinner, auctions and the show. For more information, call Ann or Lana at (325) 743-2555.
COLEMAN
School board: At its Monday meeting, the Coleman School board of trustees adopted a budget of approximately $8.5 million and a tax rate of $1.24 per $100 valuation for the coming year. Last year's tax rate also was $1.24 per $100 valuation.
Also, since last year, Coleman ISD has grown from 957 to 971 total students enrolled in the district's three campuses. Coleman Elementary School grew from 454 to 474, Coleman Junior High School grew from 196 to 216, and Coleman High School shrank from 307 to 281.
DESDEMONA
Breakfast: "Breakfast at the DAC" will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Desdemona Activity Center. The cost will be by donation only.
GORMAN
Sunday singing: Fifth Sunday Community Singing will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Gorman First United Methodist Church. Participants are asked to bring finger food. Drinks will be provided by the Methodist Church membership hosts.
STAMFORD
Fill the boot: The Stamford Fire Department will hold its annual "Fill the Boot" fundraiser from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at both traffic lights in Stamford.
Hamburger supper: The Stamford FFA Booster Club will sponsor a mesquite-grilled hamburger supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Stamford High School cafeteria before the Stamford Bulldogs play the Munday Moguls.
Tickets will be $6 at the door.
