Abilene Police Report: Arrests made for drug-related offenses

On Wednesday, at about 6:35 p.m., Officer Chris Herd responded to an accident call in the vicinity of 4000 Beltway. Witnesses told Officer Hern that a 24-year-old white male suspect had run a stop sign then fled the scene. Witnesses followed the suspect and saw him hide an item in a drainage ditch. Officer Herd located the suspect and the discarded item, which turned out to be a marijuana pipe. The suspect was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Leaving The Scene Of An Accident, and Disobeying A Stop Sign.

Later, at about 12:30 a.m. today, Officer Wesley Hern was dispatched to a shots fired call in the 100 block of Cypress Street. Witnesses described a vehicle and its occupants leaving the scene. Officer Hern found the suspect vehicle in the 100 block of North Judge Ely Boulevard. Officer Hern saw a passenger get out of the vehicle and throw a bag in a dumpster. Officer Hern conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle. During the subsequent investigation, the discarded bag in the dumpster was found to contain a stolen firearm and marijuana. The suspect, a 21-year-old white male, was arrested for Unlawful Carrying Of A Weapon and for Possession Of Marijuana.

What does it matter? They are not going to give the names of the parents. They have nothing to do with the stupidity of their ADULT children.

Point exactly! Why then was Kelsi Freeman's name and the name of her parents listed when she was arrested.

Because Kelsi's involved a DEATH. That is more serious than a little pot.

You are right though. Mr. Freeman's name did not need to be put in the articles about his 26 year old daughter. But whoever wrote that article is the one that owes the explaination.

What the wasn't reported on the news is that 2 children were in the vehicle that the guy hit. It's a miracle they weren't hurt. He is a grown man not a kid. That intersection is dangerous but instead of stopping to make sure no one was hurt he took off. The funny part though was that his licence plate fell off right next to the vehicle he hit so even if he had gotten away they would have found him.
