Arraignment for an Abilene man arrested on a charge of murder after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border last week was postponed until Monday, according to a spokesman for the Taylor County Sheriff's Office.

Joe Guadalupe Rangel, 26, is being extradited to Taylor County from Hidalgo County. He is charged with murder in connection with the May death of Albert Cadena.

n House of Yahweh member Yedidiyah Hawkins, accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old, will stand trial Oct. 20, according to the Callahan County district attorney's office.

The trial was originally scheduled for May but was postponed to July so DNA testing could be completed. Then in July proceedings were postponed again so Hawkins' new attorney could have time to prepare.

Incident reports released Friday by the Abilene Police Department:

n Burglary, 500 block of Grand Avenue, Wednesday

A radar detector was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The detector was valued at $100.

n Theft, 4300 block of Southwest Drive, Thursday

A man was arrested after allegedly shoplifting nearly $150 worth of merchandise from a local retail store.

n Burglary, 3400 block of North 1st Street, Thursday

A candy vending machine was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

n Graffiti, 700 block of East Highway 80, Friday

A window screen belonging to a local pest control business was spray painted with graffiti.
