Grace Museum's new executive director comes from Smithsonian

Posted 5:40 p.m. A man who works at the Smithsonian Institute will become the new executive director of The Grace Museum in Abilene.

Following a nationwide search, The Grace’s board of trustees hired Dennis Kois as the museum’s next director. Patty McMahan, chairwoman of the board, announced the decision Friday.

Kois currently serves as the chief designer at the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

Kois will replace Judy Godfrey, who in January announced her retirement from The Grace effective Oct. 31.
