  is the oldest continuous business in Abilene, having begun publication as the Reporter just three months after the town's founding on March 15, 1881.

  ...C.E. Gilbert set up a newspaper office in a tent and published the first Reporter on a Washington hand press June 17, 1881.

  ...A replica of the first press is exhibited in the Reporter-News museum at its downtown building.
